Oil Rubbed Bronze
(formerly called Dark Brown)
All of our fixtures start with a high-quality black powder coat that is electrostatically applied and baked onto the iron. This gives the surface an even, durable foundation for the patina work that follows.
Our Oil Rubbed Bronze finish is then painted by hand, using layers of warm bronze, deep brown, and soft black tones. The patina is brushed and blended directly onto the iron so it settles naturally into the recessed areas while the highlights build on the raised edges, scrolls, and hammered textures. This creates the classic “rubbed” look—dark undertones with a subtle bronze sheen that shows through where light hits the metal.
The process is done in multiple light passes, allowing the artist to control depth and variation. Because the patina is applied by hand, each fixture has its own individual character.
The finish has a rich, slightly antiqued appearance—not glossy—resembling aged bronze that has naturally darkened over time.
Oil Rubbed Bronze is a popular choice for clients wanting a warm, traditional finish that pairs beautifully with Spanish Revival, Mediterranean, Old World, and rustic architecture.
