All of our fixtures start with a high-quality black powder coat that is electrostatically applied and baked onto the iron. This provides a durable, even foundation for the artisan finish that follows.
Our Old Iron finish is then applied by hand using layers of charcoal, graphite, and subtle metallic tones. The patina is carefully brushed onto the iron, allowing the darker hues to settle into the recessed areas while soft metallic highlights naturally accent the raised edges, scrolls, and hammered textures. This creates the authentic appearance of aged forged iron with depth and dimension.
The process is completed in multiple light applications, allowing the artisan to build richness and variation throughout the fixture. Because each finish is hand applied, no two pieces are exactly alike, giving every fixture its own unique character.
The finish has a timeless, weathered appearance with a soft metallic luster that enhances the beauty and craftsmanship of hand-forged wrought iron without appearing overly glossy.
Old Iron is a unique finish designed for clients seeking the distinctive look of aged, hand-forged iron. Its layered charcoal and metallic tones are especially well suited to Spanish Revival, Old World, Gothic, and other historically inspired designs where an authentic, timeworn character is desired.
