Our Antique Bronze finish begins with a high-quality black powder coat, applied electrostatically to the iron and baked on for a smooth, even foundation. This base layer prepares the surface for the patina work and allows the color to build naturally across the metal.
Over this powder-coated base, the Antique Bronze patina is painted entirely by hand. Warm bronze tones, soft browns, and muted gold highlights are applied in light layers and worked into the forged iron. The patina settles naturally into the recessed areas while the raised details—scrolls, hammered textures, and decorative accents—pick up more of the warm bronze hues. The result is a softly weathered, aged-bronze appearance with depth and variation.
Antique Bronze has a warm, traditional character. It’s lighter and more visually textured than our darker bronze finishes, showing more highlight contrast without becoming shiny. Each fixture has its own subtle differences due to the hand-applied technique, giving it the authentic feel of naturally aged metal.
This finish works beautifully in Spanish Revival, Old World, Tuscan, Mediterranean, and rustic architectural styles—anywhere a warm, classic bronze tone fits the home’s design.
The main difference between Oil Rubbed Bronze and Antique Bronze comes down to depth versus warmth. Oil Rubbed Bronze is darker, with brown-black tones and very subtle highlights, giving it a deeper, muted, “rubbed” appearance. Antique Bronze is lighter and warmer, with more visible bronze and golden-brown accents that create a softer, traditionally aged look. In short, Oil Rubbed Bronze reads darker and understated, while Antique Bronze has more warmth and visible highlight.
